The King of Pop Has Passed Away

I have just poured out a beer for the King of Pop.  Michael Jackson has passed away at the age of 50.  Granted he has had negative reviews in media over the past years and has been a negative sight for the media industry, he will forever be the King of Pop (yes even better than Prince).

Here’s to MJ, the only person in my childhood who proved to me that you can do what you want and still be great (this is of course before the whole child molestation thing).  And here’s to some of the greatest mainstream songs in the history of the pathetic medium known as radio: Thriller, Billie Jean, Smooth Criminal, Speed Deamon, Bad, and ALL the others.

More info and a tribute coming soon…. but for now, I’m going to watch Moonwalker and remember the man who gave us an entire genre.

If you would like a copy of Moonwalker, please contact me.

Real American Hero – Buzz Aldrin

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

There are lots of heroes from the American culture, but some real heroes are underrated and overlooked.  In terms of the space teams, many think of Neil Armstrong as the space hero… but few know that the real pilot, creator of the approach vectors used for landing on the moon, and master of the moon walk is Buzz Aldrin.  People also seem to overlook the fact that Buzz has been a fan of hip-hop since the beginning.

Here Buzz is with Snoop Dogg and Talib Kweli rapping about walking on the moon and speaking out about auto-tuning.  What a real hero.
